Reef in Kent

Across the Dartford crossing and into the county.

The north Kent corridor is a regular run for us, and Sevenoaks and Maidstone are well inside a working morning. A lot of our Kent work is commercial and industrial development along the A2 and M20.

Travel is priced into the job honestly, and the crew that priced it is the crew that arrives.

Step 3 of 5 Measured price

A priced package with the build order set out and a start date we are willing to commit to.

Step 4 of 5 On site

Our own crews, plant and supervision, with one point of contact reporting as the works progress.

Working in Kent

Chalk, clay and a good deal of made ground.

North Kent is chalk with pockets of made ground from its industrial history, which can mean obstructions, old foundations and the occasional surprise in the dig. The Weald further south is clay and greensand, which behaves very differently in wet weather.

Where there is made ground there is usually a contamination question too, and that changes how arisings can be handled and what it costs to take them away.

Chalk and made ground Obstructions and old foundations allowed for in the price. Contaminated arisings Classification and disposal route agreed before the dig starts. Weald clay Wet-weather working and formation protection planned for. Highway approvals Permits and traffic management arranged as part of the package.

“Straight answers when things moved on site, and the programme held. Worth more than the cheapest number on the tender.”

“Site came back to us cleared and inspected, so our follow-on trades were not picking up after them.”

Kent questions

Asked on this side of town.

If yours is not here, ring the office — it is usually a two-minute answer.

The north corridor and the Sevenoaks and Maidstone belt are our regular patch. Further into east Kent we will still price it, and we will tell you honestly if travel makes us the wrong choice.

On former industrial sites we allow for it. Where something turns up that could not reasonably have been foreseen, we stop, tell you the same day and price the change before carrying on.

Yes. Classification and the disposal route are agreed before the dig starts, because it changes both the method and the cost of taking material off site.

Yes. Highway works follow the authority’s specification and inspection regime, with permits and traffic management arranged by us.

Yes, and it is usually the cheaper way to run it. One contract across clearance, dig, foundations, drainage and external works.
